Brockley , sponsored by Nick Hayward Roofing,welcomed Hadleigh for a game that would see the loser being relegated to Division 3.

If that wasn't stressful enough Je Frees again lost the toss and Brockley found themselves having to bat first.

J Reed(54) and S Fisher(66) were both available at the start of the match and batted with style in the face of good bowling and excellent fielding.When Reed departed with the score on 117, the spectators were ready for the customary collapse and indeed all the remaining batsmen were padded up ready for the briefest of action.

Remarkably , for the first time ever , it just did not happen. P Kearney (60)showed control and aggression to secure his maiden Two counties half century and Byford yet again had people minding their cars.This led to Brockley closing on a thoroughly improbable 244 for 3.

For three weeks Brockley have fielded like a team with no hands however they had obviously been collecting them up for this one game.Hadleigh's misfortune can be summarised by the fact that Meekings and Sykes took two most agreeable catches and to compound the misery S Fisher caught one too!!

The bowling was a good all round performance with wickets from Sykes,Reed I and J and S Hill in the role of Lazarus.

Hadleigh lost their final wicket on 138 as Brockley secured the highest ever league position in their club's history.

The day was topped off with J Reed winning the inaugural First team individual all round sporting superstar award and D Meekings being crowned the overall king of consumption .

It has been a super season both on and off the pitch and much credit for that must go to Ben in his first season and captain and the able support from Martin as vice captain.
