The Panthers versus Bury
The Panthers cruised to a comfortable victory against basement boys Bury on Sunday. Mingay set up the win with an excellent spell of fast bowling. Bury hit self destruct and when Mark Nunn hit high in the penultimate over, the innings came to a close. Bury only managed 68 runs, star batsman McKinney noticably missing from their ranks.
In reply, Ray was desperate for his first retirement of the indoor campaign. It almost ended in disaster when he was called through by his skipper for a suicidal single. Only a fumble by the wicket keeper spared him an early shower. Wisely, Ray chose to negate any further possibility of being run out, by dealing exclusively in boundaries. Ray reached 25 in no time and after celebrating his retirement in inimitable style, it was left to myself (20 not out) and Dave to nudge the winning runs. A five wicket win for the Panthers and an excellent way to finish a very satisfactory season, finishing seventh overall. The Panthers versus Tuddenham
Five man Panthers restricted a four man Tuddenham to 80 runs on Sunday, the pick of the bowlers being Phil Dean. We knocked off the runs in 8 overs, losing just the one wicket. A decent start from myself (27no) and Raymondo (10) laid the foundations for Baige (14no) and Phil Dean (7no) to knock off the winning runs. Our final match of the season versus Bury is next week, with indoor nets starting the week after (3:30 - 5:30).
